Shell Baby

Last weekend I finally finished my little shell baby necklace.
That poor little dear has languished on my bead board for two years.
How is that possible? She was so sweet and I was so unsure what to do with her.
Finally, enough was enough and I sat down and finished her.

In some ways I felt she looked like she was someone else's project. But now that she is finished I know this piece is all mine.  I am learning new ways of making jewelry and loving it.
I like telling a story, using found elements. Although I have been working in mixed media jewelry for a few years now, not many of my buyers seem to like the results. Oh well, onward in the name of self expression...

ETSY workshop

Last week I attended a workshop called ETSY 101 in San Francisco.  It was held at a very cool artist's storefront called workshopsf.org.  The owners give all kinds of great classes from sewing, screen printing, plush toys and indie biz.

I have been trying to get an etsy site together for over a year.  Lauren Venell taught the class and she is one fabulous woman.  She really knew her stuff.  I learned some great tips and her exercise on branding your product was invaluable.  I changed my thinking about what I want to sell and how to promote my products.

Thanks workshopsf and Lauren!  I look forward to showing off my new store very soon.
Check them out-

The Eagle has landed

Hello out there! I've finally landed in bloglandia. I've wanted to join the artist's blog community for a couple of years. Now I'm finally here. This is the first post in my blog Blessings and Charms. I'll share a little about myself.
I live on the coast of Northern California. I am married to the man of my dreams, have two sons that are making their way in life and have a dog I adore. I have a wonderful family and friends that support me. That's the Blessing part.

The Charms part is my passion. I love jewelry! I love making jewelry, looking at other's jewelry, I even dream about it.
I've been designing and making jewelry for about 17 years. The art of adornment facinates me. It is one of any number of ways we express our beauty and uniqueness.

I make necklaces, bracelets and earrings. Nothing is ever the same, I use whatever gems and metals I am inspired by at the moment. And yes I do make charms from silver. In the coming days I will be posting what I'm making and what I'm up to in the studio. There will be pictures, an new header and links to my community.

I've dipped my toe into the blog world and like what I see!
